Characteristics and Applications It is a fat-soluble antioxidant. As a food antioxidant, it can inhibit the oxidation of oil-containing foods and delay the spoilage time of foods. Its maximum usage in foods, calculated based on fat content, shall not exceed 0.2 g/kg. Butylated Hydroxyanisole shows better effects when used in combination with other fat-soluble antioxidants such as dibutylhydroxytoluene. It can also be used as an antioxidant in cosmetics, and has antioxidant effects on acids, hydroesters, methionine, lecithin, and thiodipropionic acid. It can also be used as an antioxidant in animal feed.
